Despite knowing and experiencing poverty her entire life, she had a young girl's goal of becoming a chemist. Before she had the scholarship, some of her family would willingly give her the things she needed and assist her in getting to school. With the fact that she has two younger siblings who are also in school and that her parents only make the minimum salary, it was quite challenging for her parents to pay for her education.
Though grateful, it was difficult for her to continue to rely completely on it. Given this, when her mother learned about the scholarship, they seized the chance and persisted.
Fast forward to today, six years later when she first became a PFI scholar, she is just one exam away from being a registered chemist.
