PASAR Holds Culmination Activity for BS Metallurgical Engineering On-the-Job Trainees

Isabel, Leyte  – The PASAR Foundation recently held a simple yet meaningful culmination activity for five senior BS Metallurgical Engineering students from Mindanao State University-Iligan Institute of Technology (MSU-IIT) who successfully completed their 360-hour on-the-job training at PASAR’s copper smelter and refinery plant. The training program, which ran from August to September 2023, provided hands-on experience in various plant operations, equipping the students with valuable industry knowledge.

Throughout their internship, the students were exposed to key operational processes, including smelting, refining, and quality control, allowing them to apply theoretical concepts in a real-world industrial setting. The training also emphasized workplace safety, process optimization, and environmental compliance.

“We are proud to support the development of future metallurgical engineers by providing them with practical exposure to the complexities of copper smelting and refining,” said Donn Siega, a superintendent in PASAR. “These students have shown dedication and eagerness to learn, and we are confident that their experience here will be instrumental in their future careers.”

The culmination activity was attended by PASAR officials, mentors, and the student trainees, who shared their gratitude for the opportunity to gain industry experience. “This internship has been an enriching journey that allowed us to enhance our technical skills and gain a deeper understanding of the metallurgical field,” said one of the trainees.
