PASAR Foundation to Tap PASAR Isabel Sewers Association for Community Sewing Projects

Isabel, Leyte – PASAR plans to collaborate with the PASAR Isabel Sewers Association (PISA), a group of mothers from local communities trained in dressmaking. The association, supported by PASAR Foundation with technical training from TESDA trainers, is being consulted by PASAR supply chain to make PASAR PPEs.

As part of its empowerment and sustainability efforts, PASAR Foundation has facilitated access to heavy-duty sewing machines for PISA members through a rent-to-own scheme. This support has enabled the women to establish their dressmaking businesses, producing garments and other sewn products in the local communities.

“Our goal is to continue supporting local communities by providing sustainable livelihood opportunities,” said Ruben Cajigas of PASAR Foundation. “By tapping into the skills and dedication of the PISA members, we are helping them become more financially independent while also promoting locally made products.”

Many of the sewers have already started earning additional income through dressmaking, creating or repairing apparels and uniforms. With PASAR’s plan to tap their services to produce PPEs, PISA members will have even greater opportunities to expand their market and enhance their skills.

The initiative reflects PASAR Foundation’s commitment to economic empowerment, skill development, and community resilience, ensuring that the livelihood of local families continues to thrive through sustainable projects.
