13 BARANGAY WATER CONSUMERS ASSOCIATION SIGN WATER SUBSIDY AGREEMENT WITH PFI

The year 2024 started with the signing of the 2-year Memorandum of Agreement by the Thirteen barangay water consumers association with 4,040 total qualified member-consumers from barangays located in Ormoc City, Merida and Isabel in January. This marks the resumption of the monthly water subsidy provided by PFI/PASAR to the qualified member-consumers of these organizations which was suspended in April of 2023 to allow these organizations to comply with the new due diligence procedure and requirements of PASAR.

Prior to the suspension and implementation of the due diligence policy, 16 barangay water associations with a combine member-consumers of 4,406 were receiving an average of 17,200 cubic meters of clean and potable water valued at around Php 350,000 as monthly subsidy from PASAR. 

Managed by PFI since 2017, the program that was started in 1990s, grant 5 cubic meters of water monthly to qualified member-consumers of the barangay water consumers association situated in communities where the water pipeline of LIDE traverses from Ormoc to LIDE in Isabel. The LIDE companies provided this subsidy then as it recognized the basic need of potable water for health and sanitation knowing the scarcity of clean water in these barangays.
