LITERACY IMPROVEMENT IN MATH, ENGLISH, AND SCIENCE (LIMES)

LIMES aims to improve the achievement of public students in the three subjects by enhancing their interest and raising their literacy and numeracy skills in English, Math and Science through non-classroom supplementary learning activities. It is implemented throughout the school year by the LIMES team composed of local stakeholders and local schools to complement the district level activities on these 3 tool subjects. Major components include Science Summit, Math Challenge and English Fair that are held during the month as designated by the Department of Education. Various activities are lined up under each component like quiz bee, poster making, scrap art, environmental quiz, tugsayawit, robotics, da math, sci-dama, spelling, oratorical contest, declamation, storytelling, team reading, oral reading interpretation and learn-to-read, read-to-learn month long sessions. In this program, schools will send their contestant/participants to compete and/or showcase what they've got in the field of Math, English and Science. There are also learning sessions for the teachers. PFI will give recognition to the winners as well as to the participants through certificates, medals and tokens.
