Libertad Elementary School: The pupils of this school together with their teachers, PTCA officers and Libertad barangay officials underwent a training on Basic Fire Safety and an Earthquake and Disaster Preparedness Drill. They were taught how to use the fire extinguisher and eliminate fire in an instant, things to do during and after an earthquake and things to prepare before and after a disaster. The training and drill was conducted by representatives from the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP)-Isabel, FO-1 Gian B. Luzares and Fire Marshall Lino B. Asumbrado DDM. The activity is under the Project Yolanda Drill of PASAR Foundation, Inc. (PFI), Children’s Hour Philippines Inc. (CHPI), Department of Education (DepEd)-Leyte and the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Isabel.
Isabel National Comprehensive School: Senior high school students, meanwhile, of INCS received a lecture on Disaster Preparedness and Awareness on Typhoon/Flood, Storm Surge, Fire and Earthquake from PASAR’s safety training officer Pablito L. Sevenorio. The group also held an earthquake drill where the students were oriented on the three basic things to do during and after earthquake (Dock-Cover-Hold). The activity still forms part of the Project Yolanda Drill of PFI and partner agencies.
